Pol Quadens

Designer and visual artist born in 1960, Pol Quadens lives and works in Brussels. His aesthetic statement opens a stimulating questioning about our relationship to the art object in contemporary societies. Freed from its functional assignment and its reduction to a utilitarian materiality, the beautiful object becomes, through the creativity of a pure gesture thwarting the duality between gravity and lightness, food for thought. An in-depth knowledge of the properties of metallic and composite materials has made it possible to stretch the horizon of possibilities to the limits of resistance for pieces with lines and silhouettes in tension, of insolent and vibrant beauty. His artistic approach is nourished by a philosophy that illuminates a critical relationship with the world. The creator composes a work that poses an act of resistance to post-modern alienations and mirages to engage the viewer in introspective reflection.

Pol Quadens

"Beauty is a question of balance but to understand it well, for beauty to provoke an emotion in us, this balance must be pushed to its limits, it must destabilize us, push us to our own limits of understanding."
