Éric Liot

Éric Liot

Eric LIOT, born in 1964 in Caen, is a man of contrast; a city-dwelling outdoor-type, a man who bursts with serenity, who is serious but playful, who is capable of abundant concentration, an adult adolescent…. He holds a multitude of possible adventures in his head and thus builds his parallel and playful world; he lets himself be guided by the heterogeneous forms of the objects he has collected. Wood remains his favorite material. Bronze a new-found friend. It’s all about construction, juxtaposition of different woods, orchestration of screws, bolts and patinas. He has an unusual goldsmith-come-mechanic hand, that brings him to transform old boards into precious totems. These works have this almost instantaneous ability to catch your eye and draw you to them. We like to find ourselves in the works of Eric Liot because he offers us a playful and optimistic vision of our world.
