Jean-Marc Calvet

Jean-Marc Calvet

Jean-Marc CALVET was born in 1965. After a difficult childhood, he joined the foreign legion and became a bodyguard. After a tormented escape from Miami, he found himself in Costa Rica where his artistic career began accidentally at the age of 38. At first, he painted large characters that sprung from his paintings with wide eyes outlined in thick black lines; they cried out in torment, recounting his incredible story. In 2008, it was in Nicaragua that the English director Dominic Allan met Calvet and inspired by his experiences he made a film about his life “Calvet”. Today, his paintings are exhibited and collected worldwide.
